Grace Morton | Babson Eco Rep
Throughout this year here at Babson, one of the main topics that the Eco Reps have focused on is making a change. Our projects thus far have been within the Babson community, but what about expanding our voices nationally? In 2007, the first “Power Shift” took place at the University of Maryland where over 6,000 students gathered to raise their voice and stand up for a greener future. These students attended workshops, panel discussions, and speakers to emphasize the need for climate change. Students like the ones here at Babson stood strong against the government in order to show how we as a country are harming the planet and its people. They rallied for more clean energy jobs, reduction in green house gases, and a reduction in the use of fossil fuels. This year the event will be held in Washington, DC from April 15th to the 18th. Raising our voices is the easiest way to make the greatest impact, and hopefully a lasting one too. Starting now, we can make a change for the future.
